Unplug and Connect is an experiential education program in Pittsburgh offering therapeutic recreation initiatives to improve social and emotional learning in the rise of the digital age. We offer educational, community-based, and clinical mental health services for families, schools, community agencies, and other clinicians. Unplug and Connect programs are facilitated by experientially-trained staff, utilizing evidenced-based modalities, with a focus on group games, nature, the arts, and movement.


Jamie Sousa, LPC
Jamie is a Certified Recreation Specialist with a focus in behavioral health (CTRS-BH) and a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC). She has been working in the field of therapeutic recreation since 2010 in various settings including camps, substance use treatment programs, and inpatient mental health facilities. She owns and operates a flourishing private practice where she counsels individuals and families using a blend of EMDR (trauma therapy), family systems theory, and experiential modalities. Additionally, she enjoys offering trainings and consulting groups on the importance of recognizing mental health symptoms and using activity and groupness to support, heal, and redirect energy in a positive way.
