Jamie L. Sousa, LMHC, NCC, CTRS-BH, EMDR

With over 15 years of experience in community, inpatient, and outpatient therapeutic settings, I have developed my skills and passion for guiding people and their families through healing and transformation. While the majority of my work is focused on deep individual work, I appreciate the opportunity to add levity through the use of experiential exercises and activities. I credit my early training in recreation therapy and the arts for my ability to creatively approach hard issues. My passion for working with families developed as the realization that trauma extends deep into our past. I believe all families share a common goal for support and love, even when it’s difficult or out of reach. Recognizing that individuals in pain exist within a larger system allows us to cast a wider net, thus effecting a broader change. I am grateful that my experience and outreach in mental health has led to serving community employee assistance and first responder organizations that provide access to resources for people in immediate need.

In my down time I enjoy the outdoors, spending quality time with friends and family, cooking, making artwork, discovering hidden local hotspots, and connecting with others who share my passion for community.

I graduated from Temple University in 2010 with and Bachelor’s Degree in Therapeutic Recreation and Studio Art and Prescott College in 2017 with a Masters in Clinical Mental Health Counseling. I am Nationally Board Certified and am certified in EMDR therapy with a somatic approach using ego state interventions. I am trained in both RTEP and GTEP protocols for treating recent traumatic events and group trauma. I offer outpatient therapy for individuals and families using a generational and systemic approach. I am a consultant and educator for treatment centers, and community agencies serving veteran, and first responder groups.
